🍿 3 Diet-Friendly Snacks You Can Eat in Abundance (Without Ruining Your Fat Loss)

We’ve all been there: it’s mid-afternoon, your energy dips, and the urge to snack hits—HARD!

For most people, this is where the wheels completely fall off. They reach for a handful of nuts, some crisps (chips), or a "healthy" granola bar. The problem? Because those foods are incredibly calorie-dense, a tiny portion that barely touches the sides can easily pack hundreds of calories.

If you want to lose body fat without feeling restricted, the secret isn't white-knuckling your way through hunger. The secret is Volume Eating—choosing high-volume, low-calorie-density foods that fill your stomach, trigger your satiety receptors, and let you eat in true abundance.

Here are three delicious, diet-friendly snacks you can enjoy guilt-free, plus a brilliant kitchen hack to help your seasonings stick without a drop of oil!

🍉 1. Watermelon, Mint and Lime Refresher

When you want something sweet and incredibly refreshing, nothing beats watermelon. Because watermelon is mostly water, its caloric density is incredibly low. You can eat a massive plate of it for very few calories. Pair it with mint and lime for a simple, mouth-watering twist.

  • Juice of ½ lime

    Instructions

2. 🥬 Oil-Free Crispy Kale Chips

If you're craving something crispy like traditional potato crisps, shop-bought versions are loaded with oils that skyrocket the calorie count. These homemade kale chips give you that satisfying crunch for a fraction of the energy.

Macros

39 kcal, protein 4g, carbs 3g, fat 0g

INgredients

  • 25g kale, stalks removed

  • 1 tbsp nutritional yeast

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius.

  2. Ensure all the stalks have been removed from the kale and that ideally all the pieces are roughly the same size. Add to a bowl and sprinkle over the nutritional yeast, garlic powder, onion powder and salt. Massage into the leaves.

  3. Add to a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

  4. Cook for 4 minutes. Check them and if there are any that need a touch longer remove the cooked ones and place the rest back in for 1 minute.

  5. Serve and enjoy!

3. 🍿 No-Oil “cheese” & onion Pan Popcorn

Popcorn is a fantastic whole-grain, high-fibre snack, but standard cinema or microwave popcorn is absolutely drenched in oil or butter. Here is how to make a massive, cinema-sized bowl completely oil-free, using a brilliant trick to make your seasonings stick.

  • The Secret Weapon: A clean, food-grade spritz/spray bottle filled with either water or apple cider vinegar (which adds a fantastic tangy flavour similar to salt and vinegar crisps!).

Macros (per serving)

210 kcal, protein 11g, carbs 31g, fat 2g

INgredients

  • 40g popping corn kernels

  • 2 tbsp nutritional yeast

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp fine sea salt

Instructions

  1. Place a high-quality, large, non-stick heavy-bottomed pot or deep frying pan over medium-high heat with absolutely no oil. Let it get hot for a minute.

  2. Add the popping corn kernels to the dry pan and immediately secure the lid.

  3. As the kernels begin to heat up and pop, continuously slide and shake the pan across the stove burner every few seconds. This keeps the kernels moving so they pop evenly without burning on the dry surface.

  4. Once the popping slows down significantly (about 2 to 3 seconds between pops), remove the pan from the heat and dump the fresh popcorn into a large mixing bowl.

  5. While the popcorn is steaming hot, give it a few quick mists from your spritz bottle of apple cider vinegar (or water). Immediately add the nutritional yeast, fine sea salt, and garlic powder, and give the bowl a vigorous shake. The fine mist acts as a completely oil-free "glue," allowing the savoury seasoning to stick perfectly to every kernel without making it soggy.
