Ultimate vegan protein bars

If you’ve ever stood in the sports supplements aisle debating whether a £2–£3 bar is really worth it… you’re not alone.

I used to rely on shop-bought protein bars for convenience, but over time I realised three things:

  • They’re often expensive for what you get

  • They are too calorific and high in fat

  • And the ingredients? Not always as “healthy” as they’re marketed to be

So I decided to create my own.

And honestly, I don’t think I’ll ever go back!

Simple, healthy ingredients

My version uses:

  • Dates

  • Peanut butter

  • Protein powder

  • Soya crispies

  • and dark chcolate

Blended, mixed, pressed, chilled — done.

No use of:

  • Artificial sweeteners

  • Preservatives

  • Emulsifiers and fillers

Perfect for Busy Days

These bars are ideal if you:

  • Need a quick post-workout snack

  • Want something easy to grab between meals

  • Struggle to hit your protein target

They store well in the fridge and can even be frozen, so you can batch-make them and always have something ready.

Now let’s get to the recipe…

Macros (Per serving / Serves 8)

289 kcal, protein 18g, carbs 25g, fat 12g

Ingredients:

  • 250g dates

  • 100g peanut butter

  • 130ml water

  • 60g protein powder

  • 80g soya crispies

  • 80g dark chocolate

Method:

  1. In a food processor, blend the dates, water and peanut butter into a smooth paste.

  2. Add to a bowl and mix in the protein powder.

  3. Next, fold in the soya crispies.

  4. Press into a pan lined with parchment paper.

  5. Melt the chocolate and then spread it on top.

  6. Refrigerate for one hour (add additional toppings here).

  7. Cut into 8  bars and enjoy.
